Zukiswa Wanner is one of the most recognised names in South African literary circles. She emerged in 2006 with the Oshun books published The Madams about a black South African woman who takes the services of a white South African maid. She followed through in 2008 with the Kwela Books published Behind Every Successful Man, my favourite title from the writer, about a woman who decides to take charge of her life and start a business. In 2010, Men of the South also published by Kwela came out; this one was about three men who have different relationships with one South African woman. They are a musician, a gay dude, and a Zimbabwean immigrant. The book received a Commonwealth Best Book Africa Prize 2011 shortlist.
She also has written other books most notable being a nonfiction book Maid In SA about the women and their maids in Mzansi published by Jacana.
The prolific writer’s latest title London, Cape Town, Jo’burg will be launching in Jozi in May to those of you who are there need to check it out.
