The Zed Book Expo 2018 was hosted in Lusaka, Zambia with readings by Kafula Mwila and Luka Mwango featuring on May 26, 2018. The event theme was “Keep literature alive, educate the world.”
The Zed Book Expo is an annual event organised by Concept Developers Initiative and Southern writers bureau in partnership with Zambian Association of Literacy and Unza Radio. The idea was to bring together amazing Zambian writers and explore Zambian literary works, to celebrate local stories told by indigenous Zambians, and discover Zambian books about this great nation and beyond.
This year the expo at the Cosmopolitan Mall in Lusaka had guests like Zambia National Arts Council board vice chair Agnes Nyendwa, Rwanda Air Country Manager Glyden Mungaila, as well as teams from event organisers.
We are a book blog so of course the highlight for us were readings by writers that included Kafula Mwila, Luka Mwango, Ingrid Nayame, and Enock I. Simbaya. We met the first two at the Time of the Writer 2018 earlier in the year with Kafula having written Kafula’s Essentials a short story collection and Luka having written Perdition and Twisted. Ingrid Nayame who featured at the Tell your Own Story Awards 2018 read from her title, The Last Laugh while Enock I. Simbaya read from his book Mable.
