Wangari The Storyteller was one of the featured storytellers at the Sharjah international Narrator Forum 2021 that ran from September 22-24, 2021.
The Sharjah International Narrator’s Forum is an annual event which brings together storytellers from around the world since it was first hosted by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage on September 27, 2001. The event was aimed at illuminating the stories of narrators and their heritage, especially those of the Emirates and the Arab Gulf, and to bestow upon them the recognition and consideration they deserve.
In 2021, the twentieth edition, the event was organized by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage at the Expo Centre Sharjah under the theme “Animal Stories”. This year, more than 38 countries from around the world are participating in the prestigious event, which will run until 30 September in other different venues.
One of the featured performers for the event was Kenya’s Grace Wangari. Many readers of this publication with be more familiar with the more common moniker of the Kenyan as Wangari The Storyteller. The Nairobi-based storyteller presented a tale in which she imitated the sounds of various animals following in the event theme.
