I’ve been following the Long Story Short Project where the work of African writing is brought alive with interest. The work of some of the best writers on continent is read by some of the better names in the arts in recordings that are presented as podcasts. Its scintillating stuff with previous writers like Chibundu Onuzo, Nozizwe Cynthia Jele, Niq Mhlongo and Thando Mgqolozana.
The featured writer this weekend is Nigerian writer Uchechukwu Peter Umezurike aka Uche Peter Umez. He has published in several genres including Dark through the Delta (poetry), Tears in her Eyes (short stories), Aridity of Feelings (poems) and Sam and the Wallet (children’s novella). He is currently working on his first full-length novel.
The story that will be read at the Nellmapius community library will be on Saturday 25th July will be Under The Bridge while the famous person reading the story this month is Quanita Adams. Quanita is famous. Google her. Or try here.
After the story is read to the audience including the kids there will be a Q&A with the curator of the project Yewande Omotoso.
