Here something very cool for our friends in Malawi this weekend. The Story Club in Malawi will be hosting an international literary session at Crossroad Hotel’s auditorium in Lilongwe this coming Sunday the 26th of July.
The Story Club has invited several individuals to take part. The biggest name as far as we here at JamesMurua.com are concerned is author and filmmaker Tsitsi Dangarembga. The writer is most famous for her book Nervous Conditions. She has other books but this is the one that we would recommend you to read the most. She is also the filmmaker who made the much loved movie Neria. She has done other things but this is a blog post and if I started writing her achievements I might miss President Obama’s visit to Kenya on Friday. No one wants that now.
There are other folks at the event. There will be Elson Kambalu a visual artist, curator and gallery owner most famous for his film Going South and being featured on CNN African Voices. Kambalu’s famous movie will be featured in the events on the Sunday. Also on offer will be Dr Tammy Brown the Assistant Professor of History and Black World Studies at Miami University.
There will also be more happening. The day will be begin with art exhibition called Art, Women and Society running from 10:30 -12:00 continuing on to talks, panel discussions, music, poetry and from 2:00.
The best part? Its free. No excuse for you to stay at home.
