The Christmas holidays are upon us ladies and gentlemen. Like any good bibliophile, you will probably be giving books to your family and friends. If this is the case here are three options for you the eager buyer.
Young Magunga has waded into the murky waters of distributing books with the brand new section of his blog called the Online Bookstore. Here you can buy books from writers like Harriet Anena, Zukiswa Wanner, Kinyanjui Kombani, Abigail Arunga, Dami Ajayi and a few more. Its a start with only a few titles and only available in Nairobi at the moment but hopefully it will grow to be something we all value.
This is a one-off event that is happening tomorrow at the Uganda Museum, Kampala from 2-7pm. The event which is an initiative of our friends from Writivism will give you an opportunity to buy books by African Authors as gifts for yourself and your loved ones. Some of the writers will be on site and they will read from their books and you get to buy signed book copies signed. Whats not to like?
If that is not enough there will also be poetry, spoken word and music interludes for those who need those kinds of things.
Our friends in Nigeria also have options to buy books for their loved ones this holiday season. Our friends from Parrésia Publishers have place several of their titles on popular online retailer Jumia. Here you will be able to buy books from writers like Victor Ehikhamenor, Abubakar Adam Ibrahim, Molara Wood, Pius Adesanmi, Emmanuel Iduma, Hellon Habila, Zukiswa Wanner, Chika Unigwe and many many more.
