Kenyan Readathon 2022

The Kenyan Readathon 2022, the third edition of the event, is set to run for the whole of September.

In 2020, Booktuber and literary activist Lexa Lubanga announced the “Kenyan Readathon” to celebrate writing from the East African nation. The initiative encouraged readers to promote Kenyan authors with their beautiful works as well as support local bookstores.  Featured writers were Kinyanjui Kombani and Ida Kemunto while poets were Lexas Mshairi, Poet Teardrops, Karanja Wangui, Revolutionary Spitter, Mufasa, and Poet Norman.

In the following year, the event which included a physical event at the Kenya National Theatre continued in its trailblazing work of showing Kenyan writing to other Kenyans.

The organisers of this year’s event have announced that it returns for the third year.

Kenyan Readathon Edition Three Announcement.

We are happy to announce that the third edition of the Kenyan Readathon will happen in September this year. This is a month-long reading marathon that was created in 2020 and aimed at promoting Kenyan literary works. Readers are encouraged to read Kenyan-authored books for the whole month and share their reading progress with others. We hope to bring to light upcoming authors and celebrate all our works ever published. As readers, we would have fulfilled our role in promoting our stories and sharing them with the rest of the world. So gear up because September is just close by!

The activities for the month will be shared as the date comes closer. We shall share as and when information becomes available.
