Pa Gya! A Literary Festival 2021 is set to run both in person and virtually in Accra, Ghana from October 15-17. The announcement was made on August 9, 2021.
Pa Gya! A Literary Festival was first hosted by the Writers Project of Ghana and the Goethe-Institut in 2017. Its name Pa Gya! comes from the Twi word meaning “to lift up” or “to strike flame” and it was aimed at igniting passion for the literary arts. After hosting writers from within Ghana and across the continent to much success; it was followed by another run in 2018, 2019, and 2020.
The festival returns for a fifth year with three days of activities such as readings, panel discussions, poetry performances and story-telling sessions, book launches, literary prize awards, comics and graphic novels, and more.
The organising team is inviting proposals from organizations, groups or persons interested in participating in this year’s festival from 1st August 2021. These proposals must focus on literary output (writing, books, performance, etc.) or activities (workshops, book clubs, etc.) or related projects. Interested persons, organizations and groups who wish to present or stage an event may click here until 21st August 2021.
