‘Our Stories Redefined’ 2023 Anthology Call for Submissions

Our Stories Redefined Anthology for African Writing is a vehicle for new-age African writers to tell their stories to a generation that understands them.

In its third edition, the anthology will be published by Mystery Books, an imprint of Mystery Publishers. It will be distributed worldwide via online retail bookstores and bookstores in Kenya and available from academic institutions and libraries.

Gambia Prize for Literature 2023

Gambia Prize for Literature 2023

Established in 2022, the Gambia Prize for Literature is the biggest literary award in Gambia and one of the youngest literary awards in the world. This annual Gambian literary award honors Gambian authors with scholarly erudition and is sponsored by Alliance Francaise Banjul and The French Institute of Senegal.

Etel Adnan Poetry Prize

Etel Adnan Poetry

Every year the University of Arkansas Press accepts submissions for the Etel Adnan Poetry Series and awards the $1,000 Etel Adnan Poetry Prize to a first or second book of poetry, in English, by a writer of Arab heritage. Since its inception in 2015 the series has sought to celebrate and foster the writings and writers that make up the vibrant and diverse Arab American community, and the University of Arkansas Press has long been committed to publishing diverse kinds of poetry by a diversity of poets. The series editors are Hayan Charara and Fady Joudah, and the prize is named in honor of the world-renowned poet, novelist, essayist, and artist Etel Adnan.

Nigeria LNG Limited is the proud sponsor of three of the biggest and most prestigious prizes in Africa for science, literature, and literary criticism: The Nigeria Prize for Science and The Nigeria Prize for Literature, each worth USD100,000 in award money, and The Nigeria Prize for Literary Criticism with a N1 million cash reward.

Bristol Short Story Prize 2023

The Prize is open to both published and unpublished writers around the world. 20 stories will be shortlisted and published in Bristol Short Story Prize Anthology Volume 16. The winner and two runners up will be selected from the shortlist and announced at an awards ceremony in October 2023. Prizes awarded will be as follows: First prize: £1,000 Second prize: £500 Third prize: £250
