The International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award is an international literary award for a work of fiction, jointly sponsored by the city of Dublin, Ireland and the company IMPAC. At 100,000 Euros it is one of the richest literary prizes in the world.
The long list for this years awards were announced yesterday and there are a few names that might be familiar to African literature fans. From the nominations which were submitted by public libraries worldwide the list includes Aminatta Forna for The Hired Man, Noviolet Bulawayo for We need new names and Chimamanda Adichie for Americanah.
These three writers join other people who have been nominated for the award like J. M. Coetzee, V. S. Naipaul and Margaret Atwood. Hopefully they will be winning this years edition of the award.
We shall be keep you posted for these really cool award. (100,000 Euros makes anything cool)
