The Kenya Publishers Association’s Nakuru Regional Book Fair runs in the newly minted city from June 1-4, 2022.
The Kenya Publishers Association is the association of publishers in Kenya founded in 1972. They host one major activity every year bringing together the publishing fraternity called the Nairobi International Book Fair. For a few days every year, usually in the third week of September, publishers and their consumers interact and do business. It has run since 1996 annually making it the longest-running in the region.
In the spirit of devolving their activities, the Kenya Publishers Association has hosted a smaller event dubbed “the regional book fair” across the country in towns like Machakos, Kisii, and Kisumu. This year’s book fair will be hosted in Nakuru which was recently conferred city status making it the fourth incorporated one after Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu. The city is no stranger to literary activity and has hosted several events; the Storymoja Careerpedia hosted in 2015 comes to mind.
This year’s edition will be hosted at the Car Park Area next to Maasai Market, Nakuru. You can expect to interact with many publishers and their fair.
For those who love the written word and are based in the Rift Valley region, Nakuru is the best bet for you this week.
