The inaugural Kaduna Book & Arts Festival also known as the Kaba Festival was hosted from July 5-8, 2017 in Kaduna State, Nigeria in collaboration with the Book Buzz foundation. Video interviews from festival guests are now available online.
As part of its centenary celebrations, the Nigerian state of Kaduna is introduced a literary event to its cultural calendar. The Kaduna Book & Arts Festival 2017 or Kabafest featured over 50 writers, artists, actors, poets and performers who shared their work with guests. The event headliner was award winning author Leila Aboulela.
The four day event featured some of the best known names in prose, poetry, and nonfiction on the continent today with a strong showing from writers from Northern Nigeria. Sharing stages to participate in panels, perform poetry or other activities were the order of the day at the Gusau Institute.
While the festival was in production, the team running it interviewed guests asking them a few questions about their experience individually of the festival and of the city they were in, why they thought the events were important and more. The team have finally produced the videos and they are available to watch on YouTube right now.
