The Jozi Book Fair 2018 is set to happen in Johannesburg, South Africa from 30th August – 2nd September 2018. The Jozi Book Fair 2018 theme this year, presented by Jozi Book Fair director Dr Maria Van Driel, on March 24 will be “Our lives, Our communities.”
The Jozi Book Fair was launched in 2009 by Khanya College and Wits University in Gauteng to create readers and to identify writers. The educational and cultural festival encourages publishers, non-governmental organisations, readers, writers, artists and the public to take part as exhibitors and hosts. The fair includes activities such as seminars, discussions on research reports, conversations with authors, book launches, workshops on writing and reading skills and the production of comics, film festivals, drama sketches and art exhibitions.
Some of the artists who have featured at this fair are from host country South Africa including the late Lauretta Ngcobo, Zakes Mda, Gcina Mhlophe, Kopano Matlwa, Mohale Mashigo, Kemang Wa Lehulere. From across the South African borders they have hosted Ellen Banda-Aaku (Zambia), Helmi Sharawy (Egypt), Walter Bgoya (Tanzania), and Shailja Patel (Kenya).
The 10th edition of the book fair launched at the Mary Fitzgerald Square, Newtown, Johannesburg on March 24. The fair is inviting exhibitors to come to feature and they have offers that you will be very interested to know about.
