Jalada Africa is a brilliant new initiative to bring new African voices to the literary landscape. Their first collection of stories was Sketch of a bald woman in the semi-nude and other stories which I really enjoyed. The next collection is already in production and will be a Porn/Sex anthology. The anthology in both English (edited by Keguro Macharia and in Swahili (Ndinda and Clifton Gachagua) will be published in May 2014.
The good folks at Jalada ask you to submit 1000-1500 words pieces to [email protected] and you are asked to ensure that your subject begins with the word “Sex:” This isn’t so that you can titillate the reciever by to ensure that the editor of the submissions is aware of what you are sending about. It is not clear whether those sending Swahili submissions are required to ensure every email starts with “ngono.”
