So when attending the Writivism Festival 2015, I recall making fun of the people from Ghana for not having a literary festival while even Somalia has one. This ribbing was not received well by some of the people on my Twitter.
I have just come to learn that perhaps I was not too well informed about the presence of a literary festival in the West African country. Turns out that not only do they have one but is have been happening for over a decade.
This year Ghana International Book Fair will be happening at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre (Pavilion A), Accra from 3th – 7th November 2015.
The theme for this event which is in its 13th year will be Professional Book Publishing and E-Services: A Resource for National Development.
If you want to take part in any way in this festival I suggest that you use the festival website at www.ghanabookfair.com. Here you will learn handy things like if you want to book a stand you will pay $800 for a 4×4 sqm single stall (fully furnished) and any other additional stall booked would be $700.
There is no mention yet of the authors who will be attending but its early days. We’ll keep you posted.
That’s the last time I make fun of any African country for not having a big book event.
