Gaborone Book Festival to co-curate Live Literature Around the World 2022

The Gaborone Book Festival will be part of the team curating the 2022 Live Literature Around the World festival, which is in its second year running.

The Gaborone Book Festival was founded by Keikantse Phele and Kenanao Phele to foster a love for reading among Batswana and residents of Botswana. It has hosted many writers and poets from Botswana and across the continent.  The festival which was first hosted in 2018, has also happened in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

The Gaborone Book Festival will be part of the 2022 Live Literature Around the World (LLAW), which is in its second year running. LLAW is organised and curated by the Bergen International Literature Festival (LitFestBergen) in Norway. LitFest Bergen has invited festivals and literature centres worldwide to create literary programmes on their own stages with their selected authors and other artists. Beaming to the world on February 5, from 3 pm to 9 pm (Botswana Time) on YouTube, LLAW will take viewers on a literary voyage to every continent. The Botswana segment will be from 6.00 pm local time.

The segment curated by Gaborone Book will feature Botswana’s contemporary authors Botho Lejowa, Tlotlo Tsamaase and Tomeletso Sereetsi. The local host and moderator will be Radio personality, Cathy Malejane.

“We are honoured to have been selected by LitFest Bergen to be a part of LLAW 2022. We are excited and looking forward to showcasing the diverse literary talent that Botswana has to the world. We also thank Access TV immensely as our Technical Partner which will enable us to beam our segment to audiences in a world-class manner” said Keikantse Phele, Co-Founder and Curator at Gaborone Book Festival.
