The Gaborone Book Festival 2022, Botswana’s leading literary event, runs from September 15-17, 2022. The announcement was made on April 12, 2022.
The Gaborone Book Festival, founded by Keikantse Phele and Kenanao Phele, first ran in the Southern African country of Botswana in 2018. The event, which also run in 2019, 2020, and 2021 was aimed at fostering a love for reading among Batswana and residents of Botswana.
The fair has hosted many writers and poets from Botswana and across the continent. They include TJ Dema, Lola Shoneyin, Pumla Dineo Gqola, Niq Mhlongo, Helon Habila, Zukiswa Wanner, Lauri Kubuitsile, Michael Dingake, Andrew Sesinyi, Ednah Rosen, Onica Lenkutwane, Bakang Baloi, Nelson Letswene, Abigail Mwikisa, Odafe Atogun, Lerato Mogoatlhe, PJ Mofokeng and Siya Khumalo.
The organisers of the festival, which happens for the fifth consecutive year, have shared dates for the festival for 2022 in a tweet stating, “Date announcement: We are excited to announce official dates for the 5th edition of our book festival. This year’s festival will be in a hybrid format of online and physical sessions. Mark your calendar & RT to save a book lovers life. #Arebaleng”
