Fête Du Livre de Kinshasa 2023, the festival hosted annually in DR Congo, will this year run from February 4-11, 2023.
Fête Du Livre de Kinshasa, which English speakers would translate to the Kinshasa Book Fair, has happened in the capital of one of the richest countries on the continent since 2013. It is organized by the Pôle Eunic-RDC under the coordination of the French Institute in Kinshasa. It has hosted some of the leading names in African writing and beyond with guests like Wilfried N’sondé, Fiston Mwanza Mujila, Max Lobe, Yasmina Khadra, Djali Amadou Amal, Ange Kasongo, and Gauz.
For 2023, Kinshasa residents can expect to see the best panels, debates, roundtables, lectures, literary workshops, children’s day, book presentations, awards, and signing sessions. Great emotional moments in perspective in the presence of about thirty Congolese and international guests are expected.
One of the highlights will be the announcement of the Prix Makomi 2023 a literary prize created in 2017 by the European Union National Institutes for Culture. Handed out in poetry, for a novel, as well as in theatre, it is organized annually with the support of the Delegation of the European Union in DR Congo.
We shall share information on the guests and other aspects of the festival as and when it becomes available.
