Elizabeth Wichenje launches two books for children in Nairobi.

Elizabeth Wichenje launched the trilingual books for children Mes Amis and Meine Freunde at the Kenya National Library, Nairobi on November 2, 2019.

Elizabeth Wichenje is well known in Kenyan literary circles as the Head of Library and Information at the Goethe-Institut Nairobi. The administrator opted to leave the side of organising and join the writers’ side presenting her first books in Mes Amis and Meine Freunde published by The Writers Guild Kenya. The two trilingual books in French-English-Kiswahili and German-English-Kiswahili respectively are meant for the beginners in French and German languages.

It was a colourful event at the Kenya National Library in Community, Nairobi this past Saturday. The afternoon included entertainment from among others the kids from the Maji Mazuri Children’s Centre, Nairobi Gospel Choir also known as NGC, Samantha The African Poet, and others.

Apart from the entertainment, there were speeches from folks like Stephen Mau, Director Library Services at the Ministry of Sports and Culture, Wanjiku Kironyo the founder of the Maji Mazuri Children’s Centre, award-winning writer (and YouTuber) Jennie Marima aka Shi, as well as the author herself.

Here are sights and sounds from that packed event. Images by Julian Manjahi (the nice ones) and James Murua, video by James Murua.
