The finalists for the Burt Awards Kenya 2016 was announced at a breakfast at the Nairobi Safari Club last week. The award celebrates writers of Young Adult fiction.
The Burt Awards which are administered by the National Book Development Council of Kenya are one of the richest in the region with writers going home with hundreds of thousands of Kenya shillings. In previous years the winners included Christopher Okwemwa (2015), Elizabeth Kibui (2014) and Anthony Mugo (2013).
Those in the running for this year’s award include;
- Tony Mochama
- Goro wa Kamau
- Alice Gichuru
