The Black British Book Festival 2022 is a national day-long book festival celebrating Black British Authors across all genres. The event will be hosted in Birmingham, United Kingdom on Saturday, June 4, 2022.
The Black British Book Festival celebrating and highlighting black authors across all genres of literature in the United Kingdom was first hosted in 2021. The online event had speakers like international award-winning writer Laura Henry, bestselling author Candice Braithwaite, illustrator & author Dapo Adeola, Aundrieux Sankofa-Ei, Carolynn Bain, and Lola Adebayo.
The 2022 edition will be hosted this weekend with stalls with writers and publishers from across the Midlands and beyond, with topics spanning a range of genres. The day will also feature a Black Children’s Book reading corner, creative activities, and writing workshops as well as a Black Book Marketplace, and loads more.
Some of the speakers will be David Olusoga, Laura Henry Alaine, Alison Tarrant, Ebony Lyon, Gyamfia Osei, Lola Jaye, Casey Bailey, James Spackman, Jonathan Davidson, Natalie Morris, Samantha Asamadu, Sandra Carter, Jaja Soze, Ashley Thorpe, and Liz Pemberton.
The headline sponsor this year is Pan Macmillan with other sponsors being Penguin Random House, Nena, The School Library Association, The National Literacy Trust, Writing West Midlands, Formy Books, Pepukayi Books, and Black Child Promotions.
