Aminiya-Trust Short Story Writing Contest 2020 shortlist announced.

The shortlist for the Aminiya-Trust Short Story Writing Contest 2020 was announced on November 13, 2020.

The Aminiya-Trust short story writing contest was founded to provide a space for stories in the Hausa language an outlet where they can be spread and enjoyed by a wider audience. The theme of the 2020 short story writing contest, Democracy and political development in Nigeria, aims at exposing the tribulations faced by Nigerians within the realm of politics and democracy. The competition is supported by an alliance of Aminiya-Trust, Gandun Kalmomi, and Open Arts Development Foundation.

The judging panel for the competition comprises Dr Aliyu Adamu Ahmad, Dr Umar Aliyu Bunza, and writer Nazir Adam Salih. From the 268 submissions, 20 writers were longlisted for the competition on October 9. The shortlisted writers announced by the judging panel are;

  1. Mubarak Idris Abubakar , Tufka da warwara
  2. Ubaidah Usman , Ranar kin Dillanci
  3. Rufaida Umar Ibrahim, Dimokuraɗiyyar Talaka

Apart from these shortlistees, the judges also revealed 12 recommended entries which are in the running for an anthology to be published in the near future. They are;

  1. Nasiru kainuwa Hadejiya, Tsalle daya
  2. Maryam Umar sakkwato, Kazar kwanci
  3. Faridat Hussain Mshellia (Mrs Agwash), Zabin Allah
  4. Yaseer Kallah, Komai Nisan Dare…
  5. Mujaheed Amin lilo, Qawalwalniya
  6. Ismail Gambo, Ci Ga Rashi
  7. Salim yunusa, Tsaka Mai Wuya
  8. Basira Sabo Nadabo, Baki Guba Ne
  9. Hajara Ahmad Hussaini, Igiyar Linkaya
  10. Mustapha sufyanu jikan malam, Hassada Ga Mai Rabo
  11. Rufai Abubakar Adam, Kotun Allah Ya Isa!
  12. Habib Sani Yahya, Yanayi

The winner of the contest will be announced in December 2020.  An award ceremony, which will double as the book launch will be held on 2nd January 2021 in Kaduna where the prize money and certificates will be issued.
