The Afrolution Festival 2022 happens in Berlin, Germany from June 23-26, 2022. The festival theme is “Planetary [Vulner]Abilities. African/-Diasporic Worldmaking.”
Afrolution is a festival with literature as its core, organised by Each One, Teach One, that has hosted many of Africa’s and Afro German leading writers in Berlin, Germany since 2018. The event has had panels, readings, poetry performances, as well as events for children and youth primarily at its Each One Teach One e.V. centre. In 2019, the festival took a two-year break due to restrictions brought about by Covid-19.
The 2022 edition of Afrolution is set to return to Berlin on Thursday, June 23 under the theme “Planetary [Vulner]Abilities. African/-Diasporic Worldmaking.” The festival will explore these forms of recuperation, the vital resources, and energies that situate themselves within the memories and histories embedded in language and ideas about life, the world, and humankind today.
Like in the previous editions, those who attend will get to experience panels with leading African thinkers, readings, keynote addresses, coffee talks, poetry performances, and loads more. Some of the featured guests will be Tsitsi Dangarembga, Felwine Sarr, Ato Quayson, Léonora Miano, Sharon Dodua Otoo, Emilia Roig, Pumla Dineo Gqola, Warsan Shire, Muna Aikins, Mohamed Amjahid, Tebogo Nimindé-Dundadengar, Abdourahman Wabéri, Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor, Mordecai Ogada, Ainehi Edoro Glines, Tapiwa Guzha, Al Taw‘am, Dzekashu MacViban, Mohamed Amjahid, among others.
