The African Festival of Emerging Writers 2023 will be hosted in Yaounde and Bafia, Cameroon from March 17 – 19, 2023.
Clijec Mag, founded in 2015, is a literary magazine devoted to the analysis and exploration of the African literary landscape. In 2016, the organisation started hosting the African Festival of Emerging Writers where writers and poets would meet with readers over a few days annually.
On February 4, Clijec Mag’s Djimeli Raoul announced the dates for the 2023 edition of the forthcoming festival which will again be hosted in Cameroon. It will feature tributes, lectures, keynotes, workshops, panels, and loads more.

This year the festival will have a tribute to Cameroon-born Cote D’Ivoire-based writer, playwright and performer based Werewere Liking. Some of Liking’s titles include La puissance de Um (1979), Une nouvelle terre (1980), Elle sera de jaspe et de corail (1983), and La mémoire amputee (2004). She received the Prince Claus Award in 2000 for her contributions to culture and society, and the Noma Award in 2005 for La mémoire amputee.
