The books to be read by students in Kenyans were unveiled by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development on 16th January 2017.

In Kenya, the publishing industry suffers from a unique problem. The whole fraternity of book people allocate their best editors, writers, lobbyists and the like to ensure that their books are considered in the ministry of education approved reading texts. With millions of shillings guaranteed if your book is part of the system is allowed everyone fights tooth and nail to be in the feeding frenzy. This means that other books rarely have money allocated by the mainstream publisher.

So what were the literary books that have the rights for making a killing in the next year? The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development is the one that chooses books that will be read in classrooms in the East African country. They unveiled their choices for the new year in English and Kiswahili and they are;
