Event: Cosmos Book Club features Kinyanjui Kombani’s The Last Villains of Molo
Date: Saturday January 7th 2017 Time: 14:00–16:00hrs.
Venue: Cosmos Coffee House, Highwayy Mall, Mombasa Road (opposite Nyayo Stadium).
In The Last Villains of Molo, Kinyanjui Kombani in his debut novel speaks about the tale of Kenya that we hear about in hushed conversations but never get to understand. It puts a light on the “clashes” that happened in Kenya’s Rift Valley area in 1992 and 1997 as we went to an election period. This is probably one of the few books in fiction that have been written about this very important part of Kenya’s history. You can read our review of the book here.
The Last Villains of Molo will be the featured book at January’s edition of Cosmos Book Club to be host at the Cosmos Coffee House. The venue at Highwayy Mall has in recent times put itself forward as the book space in the Southern part of the city. Previous authors who have featured at this book event include Ng’ang’a Mbugua for his book Angels of the Wild and Zukiswa Wanner for her book London Cape Town Joburg.
This event will work very well for two reasons. For one, as we lead to a crazy election period in August 2017 it will be good for us to look at some of the issues that we have been dealing with in Kenya for a generation. Also if you have decided that in 2017 you resolve to read more, this is a good place to start.
So please show at the Cosmos Coffee house get to meet Kombani, one of Kenya’s leading authors. The event happens on January 7th, 2017 and starts at 2pm and goes on for two hours. The entry is free but patrons are asked to buy from special offers that will be on offer on the day. They may also buy copies of the book which he will be happy to sign. He will be moderated by book blogger James Murua.
