Commonwealth Writers is an organisation that aims to unearth, develop and promote the best writing from across the Commonwealth. That’s the countries that used to be under British rule when they were the imminent power in the twentieth century. And Rwanda. And not Zimbabwe.
Commonwealth Writers (CW) are the good folks who are behind the Commonwealth Short Story Prize for fiction which recently had its shortlist for the 2015 best stories and had Jennifer Makumbi winning in 2014.
Its not just at fiction that the CW are doing their thing. They have made a call out for proposals for or a piece of creative non-fiction that will end up on an anthology edited by Ellah Wakatama Allfrey. The stories from the continent of Africa, by African writers should be in the form of creative non-fiction, including memoir, life-writing, literary reportage and essays.
You don’t have a long time to make your entry as the deadline for proposals is Monday 20 April 2015. You will be sending it to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject heading: ‘NON FICTION ANTHOLOGY.
